Assistant Conservator of Forest and Range Forest Officer (Prelim.) Examination – 2017
Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission conducted the examination for various posts for the Forest Department on December 24, 2017. About 62 % of the candidates did not participate in this examination. On December 24, 2017, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission conducted the examination for the various posts of Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) and Range Forest officer (RFO) at 149 examination centers in Allahabad and Lucknow.
The recruitment test was held in two shifts for the posts of Assistant Forest Guard and Regional Forest Officer. Very few candidates participated in this examination.
Only 37.4 % of the candidates appeared in this test.
The examination was organized for recruitment for various posts of assistant forest guard and regional forest officer general and special selection backlog vacancies.
In the preliminary examination of ACF 2017, RFO total of 70695 applicants applied. The Commission has organized test at total of 46 examination centers in Allahabad and 103 examination centers in Lucknow.
The first shift exam was held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The second session exam was held from 2:30 to 4:30. A total of 26,799 candidates have participated in both shifts.
Selection procedure of ACF and RFO vacancy
Candidates will be selected for Assistant Conservator of Forest and Range Forest Officer on the basis of preliminary examination and main written examination. First of all, the written examination (preliminary) will be organized for all the candidates. For all such candidates who will be declared qualified in the preliminary examination, the main exam will be organized for them. Mains Examination will carry maximum 1400 marks.

All questions of the preliminary examination were asked objective type and MCQ based. There were 2 question papers in the prelims examination.
First Question Paper: General Study Paper 1
Questions of the first question paper were related to the General Study. A total of 2 hours was given to solve this question. Maximum number of GS Paper 1 is 200.
This time Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission had asked the question of paper one in a very easy manner. In the question Paper 1, most questions were asked from current events and topics related to National and International Importance.
A lot of questions were asked from Indian History and the Indian National Movement. The history’s questions were a bit difficult too.
The Public Service Commission had also asked a lot of questions about Indian and World Geography, Economic and Social Development, General Issue of Environment and Ecology, General Science, History.
All those who had prepared well of current events, can get very good marks in this question paper.
The questions related to demographic, social sector initiatives, sustainable development, etc. was very difficult. The aspirants felt a lot of difficulty in solving them. Maximum number of questions was asked from schemes like Panchayati Raj, Community Development.
If you get at least 120 to 125 marks in this examination, then I think that you may be declared Qualified for the mains examination. This is my personal opinion.

Paper 2 General Study Paper General Aptitude Test
Questions of Question Paper 2 were asked by General Studies. a total of 2 hours was given to solve the paper. The maximum marks of this question paper are 200.
The General Study Paper 2 is the exam for qualifying nature, that is, the candidates get only 33% marks in this paper. The selection for the main exam will be done by the merit made on the basis of Paper 1.
The questions of this examination were asked Comprehensive, Elementary Mathematics, General English and General Hindi etc. Comprehensive questions were quite easy.
The level of questions of Elementary Mathematics was of high school level. The questions of mathematics were asked by the semantic, algebra and geometry.
Level of questions related to General English was of high school level. General English questions were related to Compression, Active Voice, Passive Voice, Parts of Speech, Transformation of Sentences, Direct and indirect Speech, Punctuation and Spelling, Words Meaning, Vocabulary and Use, Items and phrases, Phil in the Blanks. Questions were asked from the high school level.
सामान हिंदी के प्रश्न हाई स्कूल स्तर से पूछे गए थे। ज्यादातर प्रश्न हिंदी वर्णमाला, विराम चिन्ह, शब्द रचना, वाक्य रचना और शब्द रूप ,संधि समास, क्रियाएं, अनेकार्थी शब्द, विलोम शब्द ,पर्यायवाची शब्द, मुहावरे और लोकोक्तियां, तत्सम तद्भव, देशज, विदेशी, वर्तनी, अर्थबोध,हिंदी भाषा के प्रयोग में होने वाली अशुद्धियां ,उत्तर प्रदेश की मुख्य बोलियां , से संबंधित पूछे गए थे।
This question paper is of Qualifying Nature, which means the marks of this examination will not be added to merit making marks in this examination.
It is mandatory for candidates to get only 33% marks in this examination. If the candidate does not get 33% marks then he will not be declared qualified for the main examination.
All the questions were very easy nature. Even a normal person can solve these questions easily, so there is no need to worry too much for question paper 2. You can easily get 33% marks.
The main examination will be held for all such candidates who will be declared qualified in the preliminary examination.
Personal interview test will also be held for all the candidates who will be declared in the main examination. There are 150 marks for personal interview test.
